1. Preamble

LegaAI is a mobile application published by ForIfElse, dedicated to the preservation, dissemination, and learning of the Kilega language and the culture of the Lega people.

By creating an account, signing in, or using the application, you unconditionally accept these terms of use and the privacy policy below.

If you do not accept these terms, please do not use LegaAI.

2. Purpose of the Application

LegaAI offers, in particular:

• a dictionary for French ↔ kilega, English ↔ kilega and Swahili ↔ kilega;
• a LegaAI conversational assistant (text and voice messages) powered by artificial intelligence;
• a catalogue of cultural videos;
• the creation and management of a user account;
• subscription plans (free or paid) with different access levels.

LegaAI is an information and learning tool. The AI assistant's responses are generated automatically from documentary sources and may contain inaccuracies. They do not constitute legal or medical advice, nor an official academic authority.

3. Access Conditions and Account

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features, you must create an account by providing accurate, complete, and up-to-date information, including:

• last name and first name;
• username;
• gender;
• phone number;
• country, province, and city;
• email address (optional).

A profile photo may be added optionally.

You are responsible for the confidentiality of your login credentials and for any activity carried out from your account.

3.2 Password

Upon registration, an initial password may be assigned to you. You must change it on your first sign-in. Keep it secure and do not share it with anyone.

3.3 Acceptance of Terms

Registration implies that you have read and accepted these terms of use and the privacy policy.

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

LegaAI offers several plans, including a free (FREE) plan and paid plans (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual), with prices indicated in the application.

Payments may be made via the methods offered in the application (Mobile Money operators, bank, or card, depending on available options).

Accessible features may vary according to your plan, including:

• the daily quota for AI assistant usage;
• the ability to save your conversations locally with the assistant (reserved for non-free accounts).

The expiration date of your premium subscription is visible in your profile. Upon expiration, your account may be switched to the free plan, with the associated limitations.

Refund, renewal, and cancellation terms are defined by ForIfElse upon subscription or upon request to support.

5. Acceptable Use

By using LegaAI, you agree to:

• respect the culture, dignity, and values of the Lega people;
• not use the application for illegal, defamatory, hateful, fraudulent, or public-order-violating purposes;
• not attempt to circumvent technical limitations (quota, access, security);
• not impersonate others;
• not disrupt the operation of the application or its servers.

The publisher reserves the right to suspend or delete an account in case of violation of these terms.

6. LegaAI Assistant (Chat and Voice Messages)

6.1 Operation

The assistant answers your questions from cultural and linguistic documents indexed in our system (RAG technology — Retrieval Augmented Generation).

Responses may include documentary sources when available.

6.2 Voice Messages

If you use the microphone, you must grant the application recording permission.

• Recording is performed temporarily on your device;
• the audio file is transmitted to the server for transcription;
• the audio file is not retained permanently on our servers after processing;
• the transcribed text is treated as a written question.

6.3 Usage Quota

Use of the assistant is subject to a daily token quota (processing units), which varies according to your subscription plan. Once the quota is reached, sending new questions is suspended until the next day or until subscribing to a plan offering a higher quota.

6.4 Conversation Storage

• Server-side: your questions and the assistant's responses, as well as technical consumption data (tokens, estimated cost, date), may be recorded for operational, security, internal billing, and service improvement purposes.
• Device-side: if you enable the "Save conversation" option (non-free accounts), a local copy of your exchanges may be kept on your phone. You can disable this option at any time from the application.

7. Dictionary, Videos, and Local Content

7.1 Dictionary

Part of the dictionary is available offline on your device. Your search history may be kept locally to improve your experience.

7.2 Videos

Videos are hosted on YouTube and played via their embedded player. Use of YouTube is subject to Google/YouTube terms.

Your favorites and viewing history may be stored locally on your device.

8. Intellectual Property

All elements of LegaAI (texts, interface, logo, documentary databases, translations, referenced videos, etc.) are protected by copyright and related rights, unless otherwise stated.

Any unauthorized reproduction, extraction, or reuse is prohibited.

Content generated by the AI assistant is for your personal use within the application. Public or commercial distribution without prior authorization is prohibited.

9. Privacy Policy

We do not collect your GPS location, your contacts, your SMS, or advertising data via third-party trackers integrated into the application.

9.3 Purposes of Processing

Your data is used to:

• create and manage your account;
• authenticate you and secure access;
• provide services (dictionary, AI, videos, subscriptions);
• process your subscriptions and payment methods;
• apply quotas and differentiate free/premium plans;
• improve the quality and reliability of the service;
• comply with our legal obligations.

9.4 Legal Basis

Processing is based in particular on:

• contract performance (use of the application);
• your consent (acceptance of these terms, microphone permission, conversation storage);
• our legitimate interest (security, service improvement).

9.5 Recipients and Processors

Your data may be processed by:

• our servers and database;
• OpenAI (AI response generation and audio transcription);
• Google / YouTube (video playback).

These providers receive only the data strictly necessary for the relevant service.

9.6 Retention Period

Data is retained for the duration of your account, then archived or deleted in accordance with legal obligations and our internal retention policy.

Local data on your device (history, favorites, saved conversations) remains under your control and can be erased by uninstalling the application.

9.7 Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (authentication, server-side password encryption, restricted access, etc.).

However, no transmission over the Internet is entirely risk-free.

9.8 Your Rights

In accordance with applicable personal data protection regulations, you have in particular the rights of access, rectification, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability where applicable.

10. Availability and Liability

LegaAI is provided "as is". We strive to ensure its availability and the quality of content, without guaranteeing the absence of interruption, error, or inaccuracy.

The publisher shall not be held liable for:

• damages resulting from misuse of the application;
• third-party content or services (YouTube, OpenAI, payment operators);
• decisions made based on the AI assistant's responses.

11. Modifications

We may modify these terms and the privacy policy at any time. The version in effect is the one published in the application ("Terms and Privacy" page).

In case of substantial modification, we may inform you via the application or by email if you have provided an address.

12. Applicable Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, subject to applicable mandatory provisions.

In case of dispute, the parties shall endeavor to find an amicable solution. Failing that, the competent courts of Kinshasa shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
